They oversee the funding of reserve accounts. They also establish and review parish accounting system and policies and assure that adequate controls are in place and internal audits are conducted regularly.

Gifts Ministry Commission

The Gifts Ministry Commission aids the Pastoral Assistant for Volunteers in promoting and supporting lay ministry at St. John's. It operates out of the basic philosophy that the most effective and fulfilling lay ministry occurs when parishioners and school parents volunteer out of their God-given gifts for building up the Christian community. The commission provides opportunities for the discernment of gifts and appropriate ministry. It also assists with training, supporting, evaluating and acknowledging volunteers.

Meets on the first Thursday of the month from 7:00 to 8:30pm.

Liturgy Commission

The purpose of the Liturgy Commission is to work with the pastor to adopt strategic goals and policies as well as recommendations for the allocation of financial and human resources for all aspects of liturgy and the celebration of the sacraments in the parish. The Liturgy Commission is also a study group. Its goal is to support its members to obtain adequate understanding of what the liturgical rites are meant to express, and how the liturgy is suppose to "work".

The Liturgy Commission meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7pm.

Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council is a consultative body to the Pastor. Its purpose is to help form community as a sign and witness for the larger parish community; to provide recommendations for parish priorities, directions, and policies through pastoral planning; and to promote communication and understanding among parish organizations, and between the parish, Archdiocese, and the universal Church.

The Pastoral Council meets on third Mondays at 7:30pm.

School Commission

The School Commission advises and supports the pastor and principal in the formation of a strategic plan for the school. In addition, the commission recommends school policies within the context of parish priorities and goals. Commission responsibilities include establishing a mission statement for the school, developing long range goals for the school, developing means to finance the school (including tuition structures, financial development and fund raising), promoting communication and public relations, and evaluating the school's goals and plans.

The School Commission meets on third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm.

Social Justice and Christian Service Commission

The purpose of the Social Justice and Christian Service Commission is to work with the pastor in adopting strategic goals, polices and recommendations for the allocation of financial and human resources in connection with meeting the human service and social justice needs of the parish and community. The Commission assists the parish in recognizing that the pursuit of justice and the alleviation of human suffering are an integral part of the gospel. The commission identifies any situation where social injustice or discrimination may exist within the community and establishes a means to correct such situations. They help identify the most pressing human service and social justice needs of the community and determine what human, spiritual and financial resources of the parish should be committed to addressing these needs.

The Social Justice and Christian Service Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7pm.
